1. Your contract
Your contract is with Road Commune 公路公社, a licensed travel agency in the People’s Republic of China. A booking is confirmed when we receive your deposit or full payment and email you a confirmation.
2. Prices and payment
Prices are per person in US dollars and include everything listed under “What’s included” for each journey. To reserve, pay the deposit shown at checkout. The balance is due 45 days before departure. Bookings made within 45 days of departure must be paid in full. If the balance isn’t received on time, we may cancel the booking and apply the cancellation charges below.
3. Cancellation by you
- Within 48 hours of booking (and more than 45 days before departure): full refund.
- More than 45 days before departure: deposit retained.
- 45–15 days before departure: 50% of the total price.
- 14 days or less before departure: 100% of the total price.
You may transfer your place to another person free of charge up to 7 days before departure.
4. Changes and cancellation by us
If a departure does not reach its minimum group size, we will tell you at least 21 days before departure, and you can choose a full refund or a free change of date. If we must change an itinerary for safety, weather or road conditions, we will offer comparable alternatives.
5. Our service promises
These promises form part of your contract:
- No shopping stops. No journey includes visits to shops, factories or “tastings” that pay us or our guides a commission, and no one will pressure you to buy anything. If such a stop happens, tell us and we will refund the cost of that day.
- Group size and vehicle. Groups never exceed the maximum shown on the journey page, and you travel in the type of vehicle described there. Road trips carry no more than 4 guests per vehicle.
- No compulsory tipping. Tips are never included in the price as a hidden charge and are never compulsory.
6. Entry documents
You are responsible for holding a passport valid for at least six months and any visa or entry permission you need. We provide guidance and an invitation letter, but entry decisions rest with the Chinese authorities.
7. Insurance and health
Basic travel accident insurance within China is included. You must also hold international travel insurance covering medical treatment and evacuation. Please tell us about any medical conditions that may affect your participation.
8. Complaints
If something isn’t right during your trip, tell your road leader straight away so we can fix it. Otherwise, write to hello@roadcommune.cn.
