Road Commune (公路公社) began in Ningxia, in Northwest China, as a road-travel community for Chinese travelers. Our brand line at home is “the least Instagram travel company in Ningxia”, and we mean it as a compliment.
We built our reputation by showing Chinese travelers their own country the slow way: small groups, local leaders, honest prices and no shopping stops. Now we do the same for visitors from abroad, both on the great classics (the Great Wall, the Terracotta Army, the pandas, the karst rivers) and on the wild Northwest roads where we started. Everyone who travels with us becomes a road resident.
How we travel
- Small groups: 8–10 guests at most, and no more than 4 per vehicle on road trips.
- A slow pace: we keep driving hours sensible and leave time to stop, walk and look around.
- Women-friendly: same-gender room sharing, experienced road leaders, and safety first.
- Honest prices: no shopping stops, no tipping pressure and no surprise fees.
- Local road leaders: English-speaking leaders who live in China, supported by licensed local guides at each site.
